If you have any questions during the setup, click here to join Live chat.  Ask if someone is available to help you.

The same rules apply as in java chat.  If you are unsure of the rules, just ask a room moderator or look on the Live chat page.

bulletSome helpful commands to know while chatting.  Text in brackets is where your required data would be entered.

To chat privately with someone, just double click on the nickname and a separate chat window will open
On the status bar, all the chat windows you have open will be listed (note the "status" window can not be closed).
To register your nick on the server type:    /services register nick password
replacing nick with the nick you want to use, and password with a word you will remember.

Every time you log into chat you will have to type:  /pass password or the server will kick you out.

If you forget your password, it can be reset by a chat admin (Brian, Kath, Leon, Finland).  Just let any op know and they can ask to have it done for you.

/nick (new nick) to change your nickname, can be done in any window, there can't be any spaces and some characters are not allowed
/me (message) an action, "me" will be replaced with your nickname, i.e. /me says hi to everyone
/sound on turn the sound feature on
/sound (name).wav to play a sound, you must have the sound in your mIRC sound directory to play it, and for others to hear it, they must also have it.  mIRC also plays other file types.
/splay stop stops the current .wav from play on your computer

bulletTake your time getting to know mIRC.  When you feel comfortable, there are other features, like popups, that you may want to use.   Please ask for help if you would like to set them up.
